By Simon Miner, Professor of Worship Ministries and Computer Science
Sometimes I just have to lay everything aside, turn everything off, and be still. Relax my body. Quiet my mind. Open my heart. Breathe and let my inner world settle.
I have so many projects, responsibilities, and roles. Work is never finished, and many times tasks take twice as long and twice as much as I anticipate. Distractions crowd in, attention frays, and focus evaporates. Leaving anxiety, confusion, and the inability to pinpoint their source.
This is when I need to Stop. Listen. Be.
God is in control, so I am free. I have a part to play, but He is the one who plays out the story. He is the Author, the Provider, the Comforter, the Rescuer.
The stillness lets me lay down stress and fear and take up again the joy of life and good labor. To grasp once more the hope and gratitude that bring abiding peace and purpose.
And to continue on, singing “Thank You for life, Lord. I love living.”
